What's in a rainbow?
It’s so hard to believe, but our little rainbow baby is a month old already! For those of you who don’t know, this is probably a good time to explain what a rainbow baby is!
noun | rain·bow
an arc or circle that exhibits in concentric bands the colors of the spectrum and that is formed opposite the sun by the refraction and reflection of the sun's rays in raindrops, spray, or mist
an illusory goal or hope
I love the term Rainbow Baby. A Rainbow Baby is one that has been born after a child has died, whether by miscarriage, stillbirth, or child loss. I know some people are offended by this term since it implies that their angel baby was a storm. I don't see it that way. I don't see my angel baby as a storm. In fact, my angel baby has opened up my life in ways I didn't think were possible. I see the experience, in general, as a storm. The 14 months of struggling with infertility and a miscarriage...that was the storm. Our baby seemed so impossible to conceive, but we did it. We caught our rainbow.
These little milestones make me so thankful he’s here in our arms!
